Futurologist of the week: Mark Koska. He is the man who invented the non-reusable K1 auto-disable syringe. It locks down after injection preventing reuse and hence preventing the medical transmission of blood-borne diseases. His invention is credited with saving over 10 million lives.
In 2005, he founded a nonprofit, SafePoint, which aims to educate people in the developing world about the dangers of reusing any instruments that come into contact with blood.
